Birthday Celebration Week

Yes. You heard it right...WEEK.   Around our house this week- alright it's really for 10 days-  is constant birthday celebrations- 3 to be exact.  My birthday was Tuesday, Keith's was yesterday, and my oldest daughter Kaileigh's is on September 30th.

So, in celebration of me turning the big 4-0 (which by the way, I was not too happy about) and for Kaileigh's birthday present we went to the Nickelback concert.  It was her first concert and she had a really good time.  Although she had to play it down because she IS a teenager and all and CANNOT show too much emotion- it is just too uncool.  But she did tell me she had fun- which is a rarity in itself.

I got the best picture of her showing how much she enjoyed herself.  I think it is probably my
favorite picture of her to date.  I just love it.

Birthday Ellie Card

Here is my newest version of the elephant that I made with my gypsy for my daughter- the "Birthday Elllie." The paper stack is a new birthday stack from K & Company and the star corner was made with an EK Success star corner punch and scalloped border punch. The ribbon is from American Crafts.

"Leahellie" Card designed with Gypsy

This is a little card I made today with the elephant I designed for my daughter, Leah. I used my Gypsy to weld together several shapes and letters to make these little guys. I made her a little magnet for her locker at school. She loved it and I love the way they turned out too!

Side view using tons of popdots...

Thanks for taking a look!

Robot B'day card

I found this little robot on B is for Boy Cricut Lite cartridge. I printed Happy Birthday out on the printer and cut it out with my file tab punch. I also used my Cuttlebug 5x7 polka dots embossing folder. I'm getting a little better with the boy things- girly is more my thing. :)

This week's Cricut Mini Albums DT challenge was Back to School. Stop on by to see what cute albums the other gals have created.  They did a wonderful job!

I decided to make my own 6 1/2 x 6 1/2  chipboard album by covering 3 pieces of chipboard and scoring between them to make the album fold over.  I then used my bind-it all for the inside pages and ribbon closures.  I will post close ups of how it all came together at the end of the post.  If any of you would like to see how I did it I would consider doing a picture tutorial for you.  The paper that I used is called Hittin' the Books by DCWV and some of the embellishments are a new little line by K and Company that I found at Joanns.

The pencil is from Locker Talk.
The library pocket and insert are from Fabulous Finds.

The backpacks are from Doodle charms.

The rounded squares are from Slumber Party Cricut Lite, the envelope is from Just Because Cards, and the apple is from Doodlecharms.

Close up of the ribbon closure... fastened the ribbon by running under the inner cardstock layer of the covers.
Close up of how the book folds together...
Inside cover showing how the binding...
Close up of inside back cover showing how inside pages are attached to the book.  I just added a black piece of cardstock to the end of the binded pages and glued it to the back cover.  I use Fabri-Tac to glue the cardstock to the covers and pages of my minialbums- it seems to make them sturdier. I also glued the last piece of black cardstock with the Fabri-Tac to make sure it adhered securely.
Thanks so much for checking out my album.

Ahhh... Back to School means more Scrappin' time!!!

Today was the first day of school Yippee! That means more time for scrappin' for me! I had time to make a couple of gatefold cards this morning. There will be more posts from me now that school has started. This Friday I will be posting my Cricut Mini Albums DT Back to School album. I wanted to give you all a heads up that the design team will be announcing a DT call in the near future. I hope you all will consider applying. Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to let me know that you visited- I'd love to check out your blog as well.

I made this Halloween gatefold card using Lacy Labels and A Child's Year (the witch) and I also used my Cuttlebug Polka Dots 5x7 embossing folder for the witch background.

I made the cupcake card for a co-worker whose birthday is tomorrow. The cupcake is from Straight from the nest and the scalloped circle is from Sugar and Spice Lite cartridge. I also broke out the Studio G flock for the cherry and Martha Stewart fine glitter for the icing.

Here's a close-up...

Finally... I had time to play! Here are a couple of new cards for ya...

I have a few new cartridges that I had not been able to put to use yet, so I decided to sit down this morning before work and make a couple of cards with them.

I thought this little Monster was kinda cute. You can find him on the B is for Boy Cricut Lite cartridge. The card shape is two shapes from Lacy Labels Cricut Lite cartridge welded together. I also pull out my new Polka Dot Cuttlebug 5x7 embossing folder to use on his belly. I also have been itching to use my sewing machine, so I pulled that out too. Seeings that I have two girls making a little boy card was a little different for me.

A close up view of the little monster...

My 10yo convinced me to buy Rock Princess. I really liked the phrases on there. I picked this one to make a little card for her- she is gone away for the week so I thought I would surprise her when she comes home. Again, I pulled out my sewing machine and did some stitching around the border, used lots of pop dots, and ran the little boy thru my Xyron sticker maker and used my fine white glitter on it.

And here is a close up of the layers, stitching, and glitter...

Mickey Mouse Birthday card and Disney Mini TP roll album

This card was made using Mickey Font for the Silhouette head and number 40 and the hat came from Celebrations. I had to whip up a quick card for my boss who loves Disney- it's his 40th birthday and we are surprising him with a little party today on lunch break.

The challenge for the Design Team at CRICUT MINI ALBUMS was to use recyled albums.
This little mini album was made using recycled tp rolls. I also made the tags using the cricut as well. All of the Disney shapes were made using Mickey Font and I used the Gypsy to hide the circle on the tag and substituted it with a little mickey head.

If you like mini albums head on over to see what a creative bunch of gals we have! :)

Momma & Leah Day- Special Layout

Today is MOMMA & LEAH DAY. We started out the day by making pancakes and are heading out to see Ramona & Beezus this afternoon. I made this layout so that we can remember our special alone times together. The photos were taken on one of our outings to the mall. We just had to stop by the photo booth! The look on her face in the bottom picture just melts my heart. I love it!

The heart is from Don Juan and the journaling block is from the new Lacey Labels Cricut Lite cartridge. The paper is a new DCWV All about Girls matstack. The layout is 8x8.

The chocolate chip pancakes that Leah made for breakfast this morning... YUMMY!
